Frequently Asked Questions
Who needs a website?
All businesses will benefit from an online web presence. Even if your plans are not to sell products online, a website allows you to impart important information to current and perspective clients such as services you offer and how to find you. In our growing technological world most if not all, communities have a Chamber of Commerce, BIA (Business Improvement Association), or other such online directory. A professional website allows your business to attach itself to these directories.
Will Robson Design Works be designing my site, or do you sub contract your design services?
RDW uses only in house designers. When you call our office you can speak directly to the person who developed your site.
How much will my site cost to develop?
RDW works with each client individually so prices will vary depending on the scope of your project and your budget. We have a basic breakdown of pricing on our "Services" pages.
Do you offer "Hosting"?
No...RDW does not believe is in practice of "reselling hosting". We will work with you to get the best possible hosting package for your needs from hosting companies we have worked with and trust for their service and support.
Will you take care of my domain name?
Yes and no...We will assist you in purchasing your domain name from a reputable domain name seller if you do not already have one. If you already have a domain name but do not have access or know where it is we will assist you in gaining control of your domain name. RDW feels a domain name should always remain in the custody of the owner. Once you have purchased or regained control of your domain name, RDW will act as an administrator to your domain name and perform any necessary changes as required for your website to function.
Will my website be unique?
Defiantly! Even those clients with a smaller budget and opt to use a customized "Stock" template from our catalogue will have a unique look and feel.
What is a customized "Stock" template?
A "Stock" template is a pre designed layout that may have been purchased by more then one client to develop his or her website. Template does not translate to "Copy". We customize all our templates when we develop a website for a client, using their photos, colours, and logo (branding) to give a distinct look and feel to their site.
Is there a difference between a "custom" template and a "customized" template?
Yes...a "custom" template is the same as a custom developed site. Custom templates are a custom development option for those that wish to maintain there own site with software such as FrontPage or Expression Web. A Customized template is a "Stock" template that we have customized to your specifications to develop your site.
Who owns my website?
You...The Client! RDW will retain copyright of the actual design, but the site belongs to you. All graphics, branding, and content is the copyright of the client.
How long will my site take to develop?
The actual time to develop a site will depend on the scope of the site. As a rule most custom developed sites will take about 4-6 weeks to complete.
What are your payment terms?
As a rule custom development projects are billed and invoiced 50/50. 50% retainer followed by a 50% balance payable on delivery. Maintenance and training fees are paid at the time of service.
RDW preferred payment method is via PayPal's online payment service. A PayPal account is not necessary to make payment with a credit card. Other arrangements for payment can be made for those wishing to make payment with a US Money order. |
